Privacy
This site collects as little as a website can. There is no account to make, no form to fill in, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising. What follows is the whole of it.

Server logs
The site is hosted in the European Union by Hostinger International Ltd. Like every web server, it records each request: the address requested, the date and time, the amount of data sent, the page you came from, your browser and operating system, and your IP address.
That happens so the site can be delivered at all and kept secure, which is a legitimate interest under Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The logs are not merged with anything else, are not used to recognise anybody, and are deleted by the host on its own schedule.
No analytics, no third parties
Everything this site loads it serves itself. The typefaces are hosted here rather than fetched from Google Fonts, the photographs and films sit on the same server, and there is no analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising network, no social media button and no embedded video player. No request leaves for anywhere else while you read it.
The one cookie
If you choose a language, that choice is remembered in a cookie called dg-locale for a year, so the site does not ask again. It holds two letters, en, de or fr. Nothing else is stored, and no cookie is set until you make that choice: this is a setting you asked for, which is why there is no consent banner to click away.
Your browser also tells the server which languages it prefers, which is used once to decide which version to show you and is not stored.
If you write to me
There is no contact form here. If you send an email, I keep it, and whatever you put in it, for as long as the enquiry or the work it becomes needs, and then as long as tax and commercial law require. I do not use it for anything else and I do not pass it on.
People in the photographs
The work shown here was made for the organisations that commissioned it, and is published with their agreement and with the agreement of the people in it. If you are in a photograph on this site and would rather not be, write to me and it comes down.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what data about you is held, to have it corrected or deleted, to have its use restricted, to receive it in a portable form, and to object to its use. Write to mail@davidgauffin.com. You may also complain to a supervisory authority; for Berlin that is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
